Sandpoint Softball v. Lakeland 3.29.07

Wow! The gals played nearly flawlessly through 6 innings at Lakeland Thursday. For the first time all season we led going deep into the game. Molly threw hard and hit Mac's glove no matter where the catcher placed it. Mixing in her change-up kept the Lakeland batters guessing for most of the afternoon. This freshman is going to have a great career for the Bulldogs. With the exception of the one fly ball that cleared the fences, our outfield got to everything that was hit their way. Our infield played with mid season form, keeping the ball in front of them nearly all afternoon. Our senior catcher Macaela proved again why base runners almost never test her arm and why even balls in the dirt don't faze her. That said, games go seven innings and Lakeland found the bottom of the sixth to their liking and put up 7 runs on Sandpoint to take a 9-3 win. Its still a very young season and even with the lose, Im sure the girls confidence level soared.

Sandpoint Softball v. CDA 3.26.07

The ladies traveled to Coeur d'Alene to play the Vikings even though it was our home game. Yes, the fields at Travers Parks were still too wet to play on. I wonder if the lady Bulldogs ever went through an entire season without playing at home because of field conditions? CDA must have learned from beating us by the score of only 2-1 at the Post Falls mini tourney a few weeks back because this time they threw their star pitcher, Jenna DeLong at us. She will probably be the best arm we see all year. Having only a handful of days on practicing on a grass surface didnt seem to hurt the girls defensively. They played a near flawless defensive game. The mental mistakes of an early season didnt seem to follow them to Coeur dAlene. Im sure that once their bats take hold the final score will reflect it. CDA 10 Sandpoint 0
