Sandpoint Softball v. Lakeland 5.11.07 "District Playoffs"

WOW, the 6th time was a charm! Better to peak late in our games with league rivals the Lakeland Hawks and advance in the district playoffs than win a bunch against them during the season and get knocked out of play like we did to them. Gems all over the diamond, way to many to cover in this brief space I have here. Molly Givens was brilliant on the mound going the distance for the Bulldogs and proved why shes going to anchor Sandpoints pitching staff for 3 more years. Our gloves didnt let us down and the one bad inning that always seemed to knock the wind out of our sails didnt show up Friday. Taking a 3 run lead into the 6th inning only to have Lakeland tie the game in the 7th was an all too familiar unwelcome site. But as I said before, peaking late is way better than early because the Lady Bulldogs bats came out blasting in extra innings putting up a 5 spot to pull away from the Hawks once and for all ending their season. That fabulous game gave Sandpoint the honor to advance and play the mighty Moscow Bear the next day. More on that game later. Way to go ladies, I know Im not alone in wishing you all luck in Moscow and congratulations on a great playoff win.
